Waimataitai School Classroom Block Renovation

The Waimataitai School project involved the revitalization of existing classroom blocks, transforming aging Cebus prefabricated structures into vibrant, functional learning environments. The scope of work focused on an interior refresh to enhance aesthetics and functionality, coupled with the installation of new window joinery throughout, improving natural light and ventilation.

A key feature of the renovation was taking advantage of the northern aspect of the site, allowing for the creation of fully accessible outdoor spaces. Decks were strategically integrated from the main courts to the northern fronts of the buildings, providing seamless access for students and staff. These decks not only improve accessibility but also serve as outdoor learning areas and social spaces.

In addition, dedicated outdoor teaching zones were constructed into the decks, offering versatile environments for interactive learning and engagement with nature. These spaces are designed to facilitate a range of educational activities while promoting outdoor safety and accessibility.

Throughout the project, emphasis was placed on creating inclusive, durable, and engaging spaces that support modern educational needs while respecting the existing structures. This refurbishment has significantly enhanced the functionality, accessibility, and overall learning environment of Waimataitai School, contributing to a more inviting and sustainable school campus.
